Merchants on tapara can now accept bank-to-bank payments at near-zero fees. Customers pay directly from their bank account — no card network in the middle. Available for all merchants from day one.
How it works
When a customer pays through tapara, we initiate a bank-to-bank transfer using open banking rails. The payment moves directly from the customer’s bank account to the merchant’s bank account. Tapara is never in the flow of funds — we provide the technology layer that connects the two parties.
This means merchants avoid the 2–3% processing fees charged by card networks. The cost of an open banking payment is a fraction of a card transaction, and we pass those economics on to merchants.
What this means for merchants
Every merchant on the tapara platform gets access to open banking payments from day one. There’s no additional setup — once you’re on tapara, your customers can pay by bank transfer, QR code, or cash. All payment channels are available in one app.
What this means for consumers
Paying with your bank account is simple. When you check in at a participating merchant or scan their QR code, you authenticate with your bank and confirm the payment. No card details to enter, no new account to create. Your payment goes straight from your bank to the merchant.
